Taitong Cable is a professional manufacturer and supplier of various electric wires and cables in China. Our Overhead Insulated Cables hold a stable position in the domestic market for overhead power transmission. As an influential overhead cable supplier, we are committed to providing global customers with high-quality, cost-effective cable products and services.
Overhead Insulated Cables (generally rated up to 35kV) are mainly used in urban distribution network renovation, high-rise buildings, forest areas, highly polluted areas and densely populated regions for overhead power transmission. With an insulation layer, they replace bare conductors to improve power supply reliability, prevent short circuits and resist lightning strikes, making them ideal for low-voltage distribution networks (0.4kV) and rural power grid construction.
1.1.1 Urban distribution networks: Especially in dense areas and near high-rise buildings, reducing electric shock risks and urban safety hazards.
1.1.2 Forests and green areas: Insulation design effectively avoids short circuits and grounding faults caused by tree branches.
1.1.3 Coastal and industrial polluted areas: Excellent weather resistance against salt spray and chemical corrosion, preventing breakage and grounding faults in harsh environments.
1.1.4 Narrow alleys and old city renovation: Smaller line spacing than bare conductors, suitable for limited spaces and narrower power corridors.
1.1.5 Rural and mountainous areas: Used as bundled cables with high mechanical strength for overhead fixed installation and service drops.
1.1.6 Other applications: Soft copper core versions are commonly used for transformer down-leads.
Taitong’s overhead Insulated Cable series consists of compacted copper, aluminum or aluminum alloy conductors, inner shielding layer, weather-resistant insulation material and outer shielding layer. They combine the power transmission performance of power cables with the strong mechanical properties of overhead cables. Compared with bare conductors, these cables feature smaller laying spacing, higher safety and reliability, and excellent resistance to atmospheric aging.
As a new type of overhead power transmission product, they are the preferred choice for 10kV power transmission projects in power grid construction and renovation.
They are reliable for line maintenance and safe operation.
Soft copper core cables are suitable for transformer downleads.
Rated voltage: 0.6/1kV, 10kV.
Maximum continuous operating temperature: 70℃ for PVC insulation, 90℃ for XLPE insulation.
Maximum short-circuit temperature (≤5 seconds): 160℃ for PVC, 150℃ for HDPE, 250℃ for XLPE.
Laying ambient temperature: not lower than -20℃.
Minimum bending radius:
For cables ≤1kV with outer diameter D<25mm: ≥4D
For cables ≤1kV with outer diameter D≥25mm: ≥6D
1.Keep away from acids, alkalis and mineral oils, and separate from corrosive substances.
2.No harmful gases that damage insulation or corrode metals in the storage warehouse.
3.Avoid open-air unprotected storage; cable drums must not be placed horizontally.
4.Rotate drums regularly (every 3 months in summer, longer in other seasons) to avoid moisture damage. Check cable ends for integrity.
5.Storage period: generally no more than 1.5 years, maximum 2 years from production date.
Do not drop cables or drums from heights, especially at low temperatures (around 5℃ and below), to avoid insulation and sheath cracking.
Do not lift multiple drums together. Secure drums firmly on vehicles and vessels to prevent collision, overturning and mechanical damage.
