1. Round shaped conductor

Structure: Every single conductor adopts an independent round cross-section.

Advantages: Easy fabrication, excellent bending property, simple stripping. It is widely used for small size cables (≤16mm²).

2. Sector-shaped (tile type) compacted conductor

It is only applied to large size 3-, 4- and 5-core power cables. Stranded aluminium wires are mechanically pressed into sector-shaped cores. Several sector cores can perfectly assemble into a full-round circle.

Main merits: Tiny gaps between inner cores shrink the outer diameter of finished cables, cutting the consumption of sheath and filler materials to lower costs. 3. Conductor selection rules

Small section cables adopt round-shaped conductors for easy manufacture and good flexibility. Sector compacted conductors are preferred for multi-core cables above 25mm². Single-core cables always use round conductors, and sector shaped cores are unavailable.
